Flapper nozzle pneumatic transducer

Image
Flapper nozzle is a most commonly used pneumatic transducer for small displacement measurement. It is also used to determine position in a servosystem. Construction As shown in the figure restriction element is mounted inside the nozzle. We often use orifice plate as a restriction element. The flapper is mounted near to the nozzle as shown in the figure. the difference between flapper and nozzle is x. The constant pressure supply (20psi) is applied to the inputside of nozzle. Working As Distance between flapper and nozzle is increase then the output of the flapper nozzle is decreased and when the distance is a decrease  the output of the nozzle is will increase.so we can say that the displacement and output of the device is inversely proportional. When the distance (x) is  zero then  output is equal to the input supply.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL TRANSDUCERS

ANALOGUE TRANSDUCERS Analogue transducer like lvdt have output range ( like 0 to 10 volt or 0 to 15 volt) .the output of the analogue transducer can  vary in this range. LIST OF ANALOGUE TRANSDUCERS LVDT STRAIN GAUGE RTD THERMOCOUPLE PIEZOELECTRIC TRANSDUCER THERMISTOR TURBINE FLOW METRE etc DIGITAL TRANSDUCERS Digital transducer give output in a discrete form .this means that there is a range of values that the sensor can output but the value increase or decrease in a steps. LIST OF DIGITAL TRANSDUCER Digital tachometer Digital encoders Limit switches etc.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TRANSDUCERS

ACTIVE TRANSDUCER Active transducer does not required any power supply for their operation. we can say that they are self generating devices. For example The thermocouple is an active transducer or device. LIST OF ACTIVE TRANSDUCERS Thermocouple Piezo-electric  Photovoltaic Electromagnetic Galvanic PASSIVE TRANSDUCER Passive transducer required external power supply for their operations. For example RTD (Resistance temperature detector) is  passive transducer. LIST OF PASSIVE TRANSDUCERS Resistive(RTD, THERMISTOR etc) Inductive (LVDT) Capacitive (CAPACITOR GAUGE) Magnetoresistive Photoconductive Thermoresistive Elastoresistive Half effect base

CLASSIFICATION OF TRANSDUCERS

TRANSDUCERS  CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS FOLLOWING ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TRANSDUCER ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL TRANSDUCER PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TRANSDUCER DIRECT AND INVERSE TRANSDUCER
